If you thought the picture on VBTV looked clearer for this week’s Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Elite16 event in Quintana Roo, Mexico, you’re not crazy.

It’s clearer, crisper, cleaner, high def. All matches on the platform are now streamed at 50 frames per second and up to 9.5Mbps, which, in layman’s terms, means the picture will be smoother, with less blur, clearer replays, and a more “lifelike” overall image.

“We believe this upgrade will be a real game-changer for fans of beach volleyball,” Volleyball World CEO Finn Taylor said.  “More and more we see our sport being consumed digitally, but we want that to reflect the in-person experience as much as possible. These upgrades in streaming quality will help to achieve that and bring fans closer to the action.”

It is another win in an off-season full of them for Volleyball World. Earlier this year, Volleyball World announced that the fields in Challenge events will be expanded from 24 to 32, while eight teams were added to Elite16s. Along with the expanded field came expanded prize money, with a $100,000 increase in both the Elite16s — at some point, there will have to be a new name — and Challenges.

Winning a Challenge nets a team $20,000 — double what it did in 2024, a fact Ondrej Perusic and David Schweiner know well, as they swept their way to a gold medal at the Yucatan Challenge, bringing home $20,000 as opposed to $10,000. Silver medals received a $5,000 boost, bronze $2,000, and fourth $1,000.

The Beach Pro Tour is back in Mexico again this week, for the season-opening Elite16 event in Quintana Roo, Mexico.
