Good morning, beach volleyball fans,
Delaney and I will forever call the strange period between Christmas and New Year as The Week of Saturdays. Every day felt like Saturday. Sweatpants and hoodies reigned. Nobody knew what day it was. Somewhere, a college football game was being played.
Now, however, we’re back to work. I’ll head into FSU shortly, and so begins the 2026(!!) season.
It made our final week of 2025 a reflective one on SANDCAST, as we dumped allllll of the Beach Pro Tour Player Awards.

This week I was back with the suit on — and, of course, sweatpants on the bottom, because I’m formal, but like to party — in the FSU Team Room, delivering the Beach Pro Tour Player Awards. We have each individual award up on our YouTube page, but you can find the entire episode:
I also LOVE delivering my own People of the Year Award, picking up where Kevin Barnett and DJ Roueche left off. This year’s winners: Razzie Johnson and Anders Kristiansson, the architects of the budding Swedish dynasty.

- Biggest takeaway of 2025: A new definition of success. I love to jot down my biggest lesson learned of the year, every year. This year? A new definition of success: Being excited to go to work, and being excited to come home. Read the reflection here.
- We ate…our trash this year. No joke. Another reflection from 2025, on turning our trash into compost into legitimate food we cooked and served to both us and our children. It was awesome. Read up.
- 1,000 hours outside! Our 2025 New Year’s Resolution/Goal was to get Austin outside for 1,000-plus hours this year. We crossed the rubicon in Pompano a few weeks ago. My reflection on a fun year of outdoor time, and how important it was.
